MČRSS 2014 - 6.12.2014 in Prague

MČRSS isn't totally forgotten.

We've still been riding around on singlespeeds a bit this year.

Before winter gets here (for real) and another year slips away, we'll get this out there with the help of a little last minute planning. We've got an idea for an event coming very, very soon.

6. December 2014 - start time 13:00

We'll have a few prizes and definitely trophies and bragging rights for both the new men's and women's champs!

In the interest of simple planning and making it easiest for more people to join, we are going to meet a week from Saturday in Modřany along the river and ride together to a Zbraslav start. 

Finish line will be a hospoda in Zbraslav/Radotín/Modřany (TBD)

The race will require following the trails we suggest (self-policing) and 3(+?) stops on the way. The winner is the first to show up at the final hospoda with a receipt for a drink from the designated hospodas in Kazín and Jíloviště, and a rock equal to the size of the riders fist from the Quarry overlook (plus maybe some extra checkpoint?)

Race length: ~20km 85% off-road 

Total riding: ~35km

We'll put out a map and GPS track next week.

And as for next year, I'm setting 2 weekend dates, now:

15-16 August 2015 - A single speed ride around our chata in Řeřichy where we planned the race 2 years ago. There are are plenty of good forest and field trails and room for anyone to stay for the weekend. 

26-28 September 2015 - A group ride at Singltrek pod Smrkem. We all love the trails there, and love to support the trails and people behind them. There is always plenty of room to camp or places to stay in town. Come enjoy the holiday weekend.

Both will be weekends of friendly singlespeed trail riding and we'll see which one contains the MCRSS as we get closer.

A new national champ!

So fun and beer were had by all.
The weather cooperated, so we had clear skies and up to 4° temps.
The trails were dry enough to be ridable, and muddy enough to be fun.

Our new 2013 Single Speed Champ is Frenk.  Congrats!

MČRSSPP2013 - logistics

Here is some info, which could be useful:

Meet: 11:00 at Restaurace Vltava

Finish at Restaurace Kulovy Blesk after say 18:00 (our reservation is from 5)

And some total info we have estimated:

Neutral ride segments: 38.8km; 2hr 22min

Timed race sections: 12.7km; 46min-1hr 5min

Total ride: 51.5km; 3hr 27min

Total elapsed time: 6+hr

We will make the GPS track of the course available to download on Friday the 13th. The route will NOT be marked, you will just follow the GPS track. We will all ride together to the start of the timed sections and explain them a bit before we each start, a few seconds apart, and regroup at the end.
Riders will NEED:

1. a GPS or a phone (with android/iOS that will have the Strava.com app on it, and maybe a routing app. if you don't have one we can arrange to lend you one.) Please tell us what exactly you are bringing!
2. an account on Strava (if you don't have one we can help set up the free account beforehand.) 
3. some small lights to ride after dark, as we will finish after sunset. (you will NOT need to ride any off-road trails in the dark though, so no big/high-powered lights will be needed.)
4. beer money :)
5. and of course you'll need some single speed (Mountain bike will be best. But even a cyclocross bike has been known to work.)

We need final head count ASAP, for the final pub reservation (few spot remain with all the Christmas parties.)

just three weeks away - MČRSS pivo enduro pentathlon

Well we haven't heard from many of you folks in over a year, so we didn't really do much single speed organizing. But like in years past we realized that the Czech Single Speed Championship was missing when the weather turned cold and the cyclocross bikes got muddy again.

But we haven't forgotten about you all, or about the need to crown a new SS champion (or two) for the year.

Without planning or organization or trying to push our friendly sponsors, we do have a last minute plan. It is called the "Mistrovství České Republiky Single Speed Pivo Enduro Pentathlon" (or something like that.)

ALL racers will partake in 5 beers in 5 different bars and will be timed on 5 different sections of trail. 
In between timed sections we will ride together and hit the appropriate bars.

The winner and freshly-crowned champion will be the racer who finishes their 5 beers (or more) and has the lowest cumulative time on the timed sections.

It'll be in the southern edge of Prague on the 14th of December, in our yearly attempt to hold an event with fresh snow on the ground.

Those who want to ride but not drink during the ride are welcome to join us, but will not really have a real chance at winning (as long as a finishing beer is drunk, there can be time penalties for others missed.)

RSVP so we can get a reservation for the last bar, where we can warm up. 
No race fees. Just pay for what you drink. 
Prizes for ALL who come out. 
Champions trophies to the men's and women's champions!
